Run R&D credit studies for your own clients

Keep R&D credit work in-house. Your people prepare, review, sign and file; the CPA Firm Portal drafts, computes and checks the work in between.

  • Your firm signs and files
  • Your name on every deliverable
  • Clients never take a seat
The client board in the CPA Firm Portal: counts of clients and active studies, then the Needs you list, led by a client study with finalization blockers to clear.
  1. Callout 1: Clients and active studies across the firm, at a glance.
  2. Callout 2: Needs you: the next action on every client study, most urgent first.
  3. Callout 3: A study with blocking items rises to the top, named by client and tax year.

The pipeline in the CPA Firm Portal. Synthetic studies; the board carries no dollar figures.

Two ways to work with us

Run studies yourself, or introduce a client

The subscription is for firms that want the work in-house. When a client is better served by Ricerca running the study, that is a separate, direct engagement.

The subscription

Your firm runs the study

Your firm gets its own workspace in the CPA Firm Portal. Your people prepare §41 studies for your clients on the platform, then review, sign, issue and file them.

  • R&D credit studies, today
  • Seats for your team, set in your firm agreement
  • Your engagement letter and your fees
  • Your firm’s name on every deliverable
What a subscription includes

An introduction

Ricerca runs the study

Introduce the client and they engage Ricerca directly. Our team runs the R&D credit or cost segregation study, and on an R&D credit study Audit Protection applies to that client’s own engagement with Ricerca.

  • Your client receives the deliverables, including a filing packet written for the return preparer
  • For cost segregation, an asset import workbook for your fixed-asset software
  • Your firm stays the preparer and files the return
The subscription

What every subscription includes

Six areas, each in the portal today. Your seats and terms are set in your firm agreement.

The full list, area by area
  • Your firm’s workspace

Every client engagement on one board, and the same workbench Ricerca’s own team uses.

  • Client intake and data

Invite a client once; their study, your engagement letter and the invitation go out in your firm’s name.

  • Review and sign-off

AI drafts; your people decide. Readiness checks block issue until they are cleared.

  • Deliverables in your firm’s name

The study report, a filing packet keyed to each form line, and pro-forma forms, issued only by your signer.

  • Team and security

Seats for your team, roles with clear limits, and taxpayer-identifying data redacted before AI processing.

  • Integrations

Read-only API keys and signed webhooks for your own practice systems.

How it works

From walkthrough to filed return

Ricerca sets up your workspace. Everything after that is your firm’s work, on the platform.

How a study runs, phase by phase
  1. Step 1: A conversation, then an agreement

A walkthrough of the CPA Firm Portal on synthetic data. If it fits, we agree seats and terms with you in a firm agreement.

  2. Step 2: Your private workspace

We set up your firm’s workspace and send your administrator a secure invitation link.

  3. Step 3: Your administrator secures the account

Set a password and turn on two-factor sign-in, or sign in with Microsoft 365 once the account exists.

  4. Step 4: Your team, by role

Invite partners, managers, staff, reviewers and CPA signers, never above your own role. Each pending invitation holds a seat.

  5. Step 5: Your first client study

Invite the client contact. Their study, your engagement letter and a secure invitation in your firm’s name go out in one step.

  6. Step 6: Review, sign, issue

Your team works the study until the readiness checks clear and the sign-offs are recorded. Nothing reaches your client until your signer issues it.

  7. Step 7: Next year, roll forward

Roll the study forward to the next tax year. Your returning client signs in with the same account.

The boundary

Who does what, precisely

The roles are legally distinct, so it is worth being exact about them. Ricerca is an R&D tax credit specialist, not a licensed CPA firm, and it does not sign returns or represent anyone before the IRS.

Every firm question
Do you replace our firm as the client’s preparer?
No. On a subscription your firm prepares, reviews, signs, issues and files; Ricerca provides the platform. Your clients stay your clients: your engagement letter, your fees, and your firm’s name on every deliverable.
Does Ricerca’s team review or finalize the studies we run?
No. Studies in the portal are reviewed, approved and signed by your firm’s own people; the platform enforces the order and records every sign-off. If you would rather Ricerca ran a study, introduce the client and it becomes a direct engagement with Ricerca.
How is a subscription priced?
By seats, agreed with you in a firm agreement and quoted after a walkthrough. We do not publish prices. Your clients pay your firm, never the platform. See what a subscription includes for the detail.
What if the IRS examines a study our firm issued?
The study, the workpaper binder and the sign-off register are your firm’s work product and your defense file. Ricerca does not represent anyone before the IRS, and Audit Protection applies only to studies Ricerca runs for its own direct clients. The full answer is in the firm FAQ.

The boundary. Your firm signs and files the return. Ricerca does not sign or file returns, and does not represent anyone before the IRS.
